ORAUSA Holds 2024 Homeland Summit in Imo

The Orlu Regional Assembly, USA Inc. a socio cultural organisation of indigenes of Orlu zone resident in the United States of America recently held its 2024 annual Homeland Summit at Nkwerre LGA.

The Summit which attracted over one hundred and twenty five attendees was made up of traditional rulers, spiritual fathers, local government executive chairmen, presidents general of community Town Unions and other dignitaries from within and outside the country.

The Summit which held on Friday, December, 27, 2024 was declared open by the 2024 Summit planning Committee Chairman, Prince Charles Duru.

The Summit co-chairman, Nze Francis Egbom introduced the National President of ORAUSA, Dr Uzo Unegbu and other members of the high table.

Speaking, Dr Unegbu thanked the traditional rulers, spiritual fathers, government officials, town union executives and the Orlu zone stakeholders who spared time from their busy schedules to attend the Summit. He explained that the Homeland Summit is an annual physical gathering of interaction between Orlu indigenes in the Diaspora and the home based Stakeholders to deliberate on how best to develop Orlu Senatorial zone.

The Summit he further stated serves as a platform to get feedback from people back home on how well ORAUSA programs are received and their impact on the grassroots.

Dr Unegbu disclosed that ORAUSA programs are geared towards humanitarian services to the needy in the Homeland.

Those programs he maintained aim at promoting health care, education, ICT, economic empowerment and youth development.

He added  that ORAUSA values the feedback from Stakeholders “n’ala”  Orlu to enable the association improve on their service delivery to the people.

Highlights of the Summit included the presentation of reports by the leadership of various ORAUSA Sub Committees such as Health  Care, Women Empowerment, Youth Empowerment, Micro Finance and ORA People’s Advocacy Committee.

There was also a Town Hall Meeting which featured a question and answer session hosted by the Summit Planning Committee co-Chairman, Nze  Egbom

It  gave the  attendees the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications or offer suggestions for future endeavours. Many expressed their appreciations to ORAUSA for positively reaching out to the grassroots at the point of their needs and prayed that these humanitarian programs would continue to get better and bigger in the years ahead.

The National President of ORAUSA conveyed the appreciation of the association to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma who he said has since assumption of office shown unwavering support and encouragement to the programs of ORAUSA.

Dr Unegbu used the opportunity to inform the Summit attendees of the ongoing construction of ORAUSA  five hundred million (#500m)  multi- purpose building and medical center in Orlu town and urged attendees to feel free to visit the site at their convenience.

It was gathered that over one thousand ,two hundred and seventy persons of all ages received free treatment during the ORAUSA 2024 annual Free Medical Mission which held in Nkwerre, Isu, Nwangele and Njaba Local Government Areas between December 18 and 20,2024.

The Summit attended by top Executive members of the association including their national Secretary, Chief Austin Ofoha ended with a sumptuous hosting of all delegates and donation of medication and other medical supplies to IMSUTH and St Mary’s Joint Hospital, Amaigbo in Nwangele LGA, Imo state..
